HAS MANAGEMENT CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS STILL DEBTS OWED TO FARMERS WHO SUBMITTED THEIR CROPS TO THE SECCOS?

The National Food Security Processing and Marketing Corporation (formerly GGC) management was informed of an outstanding sum of D5million that is yet to be paid to farmers in URR. While acknowledging that the farmers are still owed, management indicated that Agib Bank will reach out to them and supply them cash in order to settle those debts.

This is a signal that the company requires more support either in funding or logistics to be able to save the farmers from undue delay in receiving their earnings. It needs to be clear that farmers earn their income annually and cannot afford delays in receiving payments.

Foroyaa has engaged GGC continuously, which has so far been open in sharing information. Its openness is half the solution. It enables interaction between managers and the farmers and creates more understanding of the challenges with a view to addressing and preventing future recurrence.
