The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has been recognized as the most outstanding performing institution in the country.
GRA, under Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe’s leadership, continued to elevate its global standing, coveting several prestigious international awards, signaling the authority’s continuous massive revenue boosting for contributions to the economic development of the country.
The Authority’s recognition reaffirms its status as a leading player in the nation’s development through revenue collection.
The Gambia High Commission in Senegal presented the award in collaboration with the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GiEPA) and Senegal’s Agence Nationale Pour la Promotion des Investissements et des Grands Travaux (APIX).
The momentous recognition took place during the 2nd Edition of the Gambia-Senegal Economic, Trade, and Investment Forum and Cultural Night, held on December 19th and 20th, 2024, at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center.
In his acceptance speech, CG Darboe expressed heartfelt gratitude to the event organizers for acknowledging the Authority’s outstanding achievements.
He proudly highlighted that the GRA had surpassed its ambitious revenue target of GMD 19.2 billion for the year 2024. Darboe attributed this remarkable feat to the Authority’s unwavering commitment to innovation and efficiency, underscored by its robust digitalization strategies and the relentless dedication of its hardworking staff.
Darboe emphasized that digital transformation has been the cornerstone of the GRA’s success, enabling streamlined operations, enhanced transparency, and improved service delivery.
“This award is a testament to the collective efforts of our team and the transformational impact of embracing technology to drive revenue performance,” he remarked.
“We are very excited to receive this prestigious award out of 100 institutions in the Gambia. GRA came out to be the winner,” says CG Darboe.
“This is a great happiness for both the board of directors and the management of GRA,” he added.
Darboe said the award will motivate his staff to work harder, so that they can have more targets in the future.
“We are wishing the entire nation a happy and prosperous new year in advance,” he stated.
The event brought together a host of dignitaries, including the Vice President of The Gambia, the Prime Minister of Senegal, cabinet ministers, prominent business leaders, and representatives from the private sector.
The celebration not only honored outstanding achievements, but also underscored the strengthening economic and cultural ties between The Gambia and Senegal.
Meanwhile, Darboe’s award came after his institution recently announced that it has successfully met its revenue target for 2024 by collecting 19.2 billion dalasi.
