By Mustapha Jallow The detention of the Managing Director of the Gambia International Airline (GIA), Bakary Nyassi has today clocked fifty-two (52) days, exceeding the constitutional detention limit of 72Hrs. Nyassi who is currently in Police is yet to be arraigned before a court of law. This follows his arrest on 19 August, 2014. Mr Nyassi is still detained at the Brusubi Police Station without any official charge pressed on him, a source informs this paper. “We still don’t know why he is arrested. We expected that he would be released to observe the feast of Eid-Ul-Adha at his home with his family, but this has not happen and we are really disappointed,” said a family source. Mr Nyassi was said to have been arrested by the police at a time when he was supposed to travel to Canada for further studies, but his arrest has delayed all that. ]]>
