By Sulayman Bah Assan Ceesay has completed a transfer from local Gambian club to the Assan Ceesay 2 Senegalese premier league, Foroyaa Sport can reveal. The young Gambian striker who plies his services with record quadruple FA Cup winners Gamtel made the switch, according to a source, prior to the start of the Senegalese league campaign. He joins Zigunchor-based Casa Sport FC on a two-year loan deal. Reached for comment over the weekend, Gamtel’s gaffer Tapha Manneh confirmed the story of the player’s departure. ‘He has moved there on a two-year loan,’Manneh, one of the most revered local coaches in the country, told Foroyaa Sport. Casa Sport has strong ties with Gambian top flight sides signing a bond of understanding with some of the GFF clubs. The Senegalese outfit is certainly reaping from such a partnership with Assan’s acquisition a clear testament. Ceesay –an exciting prospect with experience in CAF Confederation and Wafu competitions –becomes the third Gambian-born attacker in Casa’s book after winger Saloum Faal andBakary Daffeh, all players signed on loan contracts. Assan who looks up to former Liverpool goal-poacher Fernando Torres as a footballing idol, was an integral part in the telecommunication Boys (Gamtel’s) record four times winning FA Cup squad. Not the typical forward to rake in doubles figures of goals in a season, however his silky skills and pace are tributes that make him a standout forcing national team coaches to hand him a call-up to the Scorpions squad. But in the presence of much experienced foreign-based Gambian players, it meant he’s inevitably overlooked. In 2012 he got to make his national team debut from the starting line-up but with the local-based Scorpions in Liberia. It was not until in 2013 that he featured along with few local-based players in the Senior Scorpions 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Tanzania under Bonu Johnson –only two-years after his trial with Nigerian club Enugu Rangers. AssanCeesay is a Wafu Cup finalist.]]>
