But their lead proved to be a temporary one ahead of the Sunday fixture of the telecoms giants. Tapha Manneh’s Gamtel did not hesitate to capitalise on the chance opened to them to top the league in Week Nine by beating the Soldiers 1-0. The current standings of the league is one of a tight race with one point between the first, second and third-placed teams. Elsewhere, Wallidan moved up the ranking to sixth place after downing Interior 2-1. In earlier fixtures over the weekend, Bombada suffered their third defeat of the season after having been defeated by the 2010 league champions and once-beaten Alagie Sarr’s Gambia Ports Authority on a final 1-0 score. Real de Banjul breezed past Serrekunda United, accumulating sixteen points in the process. The Bakau United vs Banjul United tie was put off.
