Gambia basketball 3×3 national squad finished third place to grab bronze medals in their first outing following 
37 years of absence from international competition.
The team lost the opening tie against hosts Mali on Saturday but resuscitated their campaign to beat Guinea Conakry on 13-12 at the Mali Cultural Basketball lawn, a source close to the team camp divulges.
Hosts Mali mauled Guinea Conakry 12-6 to secure first place at the Culturale Basketball Court on Sunday.
Coach Foday Singhateh and his charges were ranked T-94 prior to this tournament and last starred in an international Basketball championship in 1978 in the African Championship where they finished 9th.
