A Gambian player has turned his back on a contract proposal worth over
D13million dalasis offered by an Indian Premier League club, Foroyaa
Sport can report.
Saihou Jagne, a striker who recently agreed to play for Gambia
national team and featured in the Scorpions’ one-all draw againstUganda, was made a mouthwatering 2.5m Norwegian kroner contract offer
to play in India which, when converted to dalasi, hits over D13m.
The unnamed Indian club which had been keeping tabs on the striker’s
development all season, made the offer to tempt the Gambian-born to
the cash-stabled Indian Super League.
Jagne, 28, began to draw the Indian club’s attention after he scored
over ten goals for Norway’s third tier side Brumunddal who missed out
on promotion to the second division.
However, against expectations, Saihou who also holds a Swedish
passport, rejected the juicy Indian proposal opting to leave
Brumunddal to join fellow third tier Hamkam in Norway.
Brumundal were forced to cash in on the Gambia international after he
decided against extending his contract beyond the first season.
At new club Hamkam, the explosive Scorpion is believed to be tied down
to a deal worth in the region of 35,000 Norwegian Kroner.
Hamkam are hoping to return to the second division in their first
attempt when the new campaign begin and considers Saihou an invaluable
inclusion in the realization of their audacious project.
