Gambian first division team Fortune FC has announced that their full-back Bakary Jawara has joined Slovakian Side PK Pohronie on a year-long loan deal. Pohronie currently compete in the second tier of the Solvakian league system.
Jawara joined Fortune at a young age and has since played in every youth category for The Gambia. He was among the few players who played every game for the Gambia national U20 team in the recent FIFA World Cup in Argentina.
The President of Fortune Football Club Assan S. Ndure shared his-led club elation in securing the deal as he described Bakary as an ambitious and hardworking player who has the potential to become one of the country’s best right-backs.
“Nothing delights me so much as a club president more than seeing my players leaving for professional contracts in Europe. As a club, we have been giving much preference to helping these players accomplish their dreams of becoming professional footballers,” he said.
“We hope this move will be the beginning of brighter days for him.”
The club also stated in its website that the 20-year-old “is coming to Pohronia to strengthen our team’s defense and help us in difficult competitive battles.”
“We believe that Bakary will feel good with us and on the field he will fully show his qualities that got him to the national team and the World Championships.”
