GAF Civilian Support Staff, Two Others Arrested With Suspected Prohibited Drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency-the Gambia (DLEAG) has recently arrested three people with suspected prohibited drugs, including heroin, cocaine, and cannabis sativa.

Ousman Saidybah, the Public Relation Officer (PRO) and Head of DLEAG, said DLEAG’s Brusubi field office took into custody a civilian support staff of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) on suspicion of being in possession of prohibited drug contrary to the provisions of the DCA 2003.

“Amie Ceesay, an adult female Gambian, was apprehended at Banjul Half Die on the 17th December 2021 with seventeen wraps, one stone and some quantities of suspected cocaine as well as four (4) wraps of suspected heroine,” he said.

The PRO of DLEAG said the suspected cocaine were placed in a black purse while the suspected heroines were hidden in a black handbag.

“DLEAG’s Bakau field office also nabbed one Saikou Conteh, an adult male Gambian with two bundles, sixteen parcels and twenty-eight wraps of suspected cannabis sativa,” the PRO said.

He said Mr. Conteh was arrested on the 17 December, 2021 in Bakau, Kanifing Municipality.

Saidybah, who is also the Head of the Drug Demand Reduction Unit of DLEAG, said one Modou Sinyan was also clutched by DLEAG’s Serrekunda field office with five parcels of suspected cannabis sativa. He said Sinyan was nabbed on the 16December, 2021.
