EX-FINANCE MINISTER HELD FOR 86 DAYS AT NIA

By Mustapha Jallow Mr. Mambury Njie, the former Finance and Economic Affairs Minister, is now Mambury Njieheld for 86 days at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) headquarters in Banjul without being released, granted bail or any court appearance. A close family member, confirmed that he is still held and that the reason for his arrest and long detention is not known. The source, however, said they were allowed access to him at the NIA. Following his acquittal and discharge on 3 July this year, by Justice Mikailu Abdulahi of the Special Criminal Division (SCD) of the High court in Banjul on two counts, namely economic crime and neglect of official duty, Mr Njie was re-arrested by state security agents (NIA) at his residence in Brusubi around 10am and whisked away, according to sources.
