ECOWAS Parliament Speaker Receives Officials from AWALCO

The Executive Council of the Association of West African Legislative Correspondents (AWALCO) on Saturday, 8 June 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the new Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, HajiaMaimunatuIbrahima, at the ECOWAS Parliament Secretariat in Abuja. 

The visit was to congratulate her on her new role and reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the existing partnership. The association also used the opportunity to present a congratulatory card to the Speaker.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with your institution and appreciate your willingness to collaborate. Communication is key to success. Without effective communication, it’s challenging to achieve our goals. Thank you for the gift and I look forward to our continued partnership,” said Speaker MaimunatuIbrahima.

Leader of the delegation and President of AWALCO, Mr. Innocent Odoh, expressed his admiration for the Speaker’s leadership, stating, “We are proud to have you as our Speaker. Your experience in parliamentary affairs will undoubtedly bring a lot of value to our partnership. 

“We wish you well and are confident that, by the grace of God, we will achieve our set objectives,” Mr. Innocent Odoh said on behalf of AWALCO.

The visit highlights the importance of collaboration between the ECOWAS Parliament and AWALCO in promoting regional integration and development in West Africa. With the support of the press, the Speaker is committed to achieving the Parliament’s objectives and fostering a stronger partnership with AWALCO.
