Serrekunda East coach Adama Jatta has downplayed talks of 
mounting pressure after his side’s sloppy runs in the Premier Games sponsored Super Naawettan.
East bit the dust to Brikama in a game they dominated at the Box Bar mini-stadium and gaffer Adama and his charges came under a bevy of derides for their lackluster performances amid claims of mounting pressure from critics.
But Jatta has played down reports on the back of their 3-0 lashing of Gunjur but admits the criticisms pushed his side to mend their ways.
Speaking to reporters at the end of the match, he said: ‘We had criticisms. Without criticisms, we cannot work. So that’s what the boys did yesterday (at training working harder). I have no pressure. Football is a sacrifice. It is just football (that we lost the other game).”
Majority of the East outfit’s problems weighed down to scoring and quizzed as to his charges’ profligacy in front of goal, Adama blames it down to selection issue saying his team comprise more of midfielders than finishers.
He points out, “The selection is good I have forty-two players (selected for me by the committee technical bench) so I only) had to do the) screening. We have only two strikers. Most of the strikers are with Real (de Banjul) players and they are in camp. So is not our fault.”
His opposite number Gunjur’s Hatab Jobe shouldered responsibility for his team’s second-half poor showing that led to all three goals being scored.
East are now second in Group B on five points four behind table-topping Brikama who face Barra Essau Mayamba (BEM). Victory or a draw accords them a place in the quarter-finals.
In other fixtures, Brufut rallied to score a last-gasp goal forcing a share of the spoils after West had led majority of the game with Lamin and Bakau also grinding out a similar score.]]>
