By KebbaJeffang The trial involving Sheikh Muhideen Hydara and Buyeh Touray, the Caliph General and Alkalo of Darsilmeh Sangajor, respectively, could not proceed yesterday, 1 September, 2014 at the Brikama Magistrate’s Court due to the absence of the trial magistrate. A ruling was expected from Magistrate Serending Sanneh on the application made by the lead defence counsel Antouman Gaye to refer the matter to the Supreme Court. The defence is asking the court to stay off proceedings and refer the matter to the Supreme Court which it argued has the original jurisdiction. However, a court official told journalists that the matter was adjourned till Thursday, 4th September, 2014 as the trial magistrate was absent. The duo is charged with two counts of ‘Disobedience to a lawful order’ and ‘Conspiracy to commit felony’. The matter is adjourned till Thursday, 4th September, 2014 for ruling on the defence’s application. ]]>
