Captain Bubacarr Bah, alias ‘vandam’, who was released on Friday, 20 January, 2017 around 8pm alleges that he was severely tortured while in detention.

The Nema-su resident alleges that each night, while in detention a group of masked men will come for him and take him to unknown place where they will beat him up.

According to Ousman Bah, his brother, ‘‘He was very weak and we saw injuries on his head and back. We later rushed him to a clinic in Sukuta on Saturday,  21 January, where he was briefly admitted….. He cannot even walk properly after spending 6 days in custody without access or being taken to court.”

Captain Bah, the second in command at the Republican Guard Battalion and an explosive expert and former instructor, was arrested at the Fajara Barracks by personnel of the Guards battalion at state house and taken away to an unknown destination on Sunday, 15 January, around 9 pm, while Ex- president Jammeh was still in power.

When he left home for work on a standby at the Fajara Barracks a group of soldiers came to pick him up.

The elder brother said the family is not aware of any reason why Capt. Bah was arrested and detained.

Capt. Bah, was a former military instructor, according to the brother.
