A Brikama United player has secured a move to Germany, Foroyaa Sport can reveal.
Saikou Omar Sawo left the West Coast Region-based Gambia Football
Federation First Division club nearly three months ago for Berlin to
sign a contract with Wangen O5, according to a club insider.Sawo, who heavily featured for the Young Scorpions and most recently
in the senior national team friendly shock defeat to the Mourabitounes
of Mauritania, moved on an undisclosed fee.
It’s unclear how long he will remain at his new club and Brikama
United are yet to issue any formal communique about the transfer.
Reached for comment, Brikama’s gaffer Saikou Kuyate said, ‘I cannot
talk about such matters.’
Repeated efforts to reach executives of the club at press time
yesterday proved vain.
Saikou Omar Sawo has been a solid figure in United’s defense and led
the outfit to their first league title in 2011 in as many years. He
also appeared in Brikama’s CAF Champions league qualifiers against
Ouakham and Esperance du Tunis.
Wangen 05 is a club that plies in the lower leagues of Germany.]]>
