Fortune FC, Brikama league champions, Tuesday came out unscathed surviving a scare that took them until in post-match penalties to jettison Greater Tomorrow FC.
Regulation time wrapped up with either side tied goalless as a determined Greater Tomorrow stood their ground occasionally planning upsets.
But Fortune who stole the headlines the previous campaign was forced to deal with pockets of resistance from the opponents and it wasn’t until on penalties that they managed to break their adversaries’ stiffness.
Victory ensured them a place beyond the last 16 round of the nawettan league. They were joined by Fabou who rid themselves of Conge Bi on 5-3 kicks.
Elsewhere in SK West, Bengazi brushed aside Cambel Town on a 2-1 score as the SK West nawettan Knock Cup hots up.
Madac stole the showdown to grab a spot in the next round after beating Kanifing Layout on 5-4 penalties while Latrikunda tore Tigers 4-3 on post-match kicks following a one-all stalemate in regular time.
Pencha got shocked on a 2-0 score by Sankum in an earlier kick-off with Erinjang going through on penalties. Jarinton also did just what they thought of Sticklers as Konge Bi hammered Uprising 2-1.
