Brikama Wednesday fielded a weak second side comprising mainly fringe 
players in their defeat to Barra EssauMayamba.
A lone goal from the spot-kick by LaminNyang proved decisive ensuring the bragging rights for BEM and consequently bringing to a halt what has so far been a prepossessing unbeaten streak for Brikama.
Things had looked normal prior to the match until Brikama’s gaffer Alieu John Ndure decided to massively overhaul his team fielding in second-choice players with only defender ModouNdow and Modou Jatta’s first team regulars.
The move has drawn disaffection amid suggestions –though in the minority – Brikama threw away their game to aid BEM’s campaign for qualification to the quarter-finals. But BEM’s coach Borris Demba is unconcerned insisting his opposing number trusts his players.
“These three points means a lot to us. Penalty is part of the game. I don’t see it as an issue the players of Brikama played; is because he (coach Ndure) has trust in them. So every player is equal to me,” he told reporters.
Defending his decision, the Sateba Boys’ tactician said he didn’t offer an unfair advantage to BEM.
“..I am not giving the game to BEM,” he says pointing his target to scoop a record 12-point target in the Super Nawettan championship.
“I must compliment BEM for the win today. We are working for the quarter-finals. I want to break a record of fifteen points but now it is a 12-point target (after our defeat). I know I can do it.”
Brikama would be fighting for pride having sealed a place into the next round of the Premier Games sponsored tournament when they face rivals Bakau. They top group B on nine points with Serrekunda East and BEM joint second-placed.]]>
