The twenty-eight-school Olymafrica organised futbol tournament has
been clinched by Bakoteh Lower and Upper Basic schools.
Held at the SK East mini-stadium, the championship supported by Gambia National Olympic Committee and which began last month saw both schoolsof Bakau squeezed into the finals of Lower and Upper Basic categories.
Bakoteh Upper shoved off Greater Banjul to pick up a trophy and a
certificate on penalties after a two-all, three-all goal and points
stalemates with Bakoteh Lower also triumphing over opponent St
Therese’s on penalty kicks. Runners-up in both categories had a trophy and a
certificate as compensation.
New Covenant and Latrikunda Sabiji despite missing out in the grand
finals were voted the most disciplined teams.
‘FutbolNet’ is a programme based on Futbol3 methodology, a tool for
social intervention, never applied in Catalonia before, but with
well-known successful experiences in Colombia and Germany. It’s an
innovative method to reeducate through sport and includes working with
groups of young people on subjects like cohabitation, discrimination,
