Bakau team tactician has taken the ban slammed on him by the Super
Nawettan Organising Committee (SOC) in ‘good faith.’
Sainey Sanyang was involved in an altercation after he impulsively
raced down to the opposing team’s dug-out in sheer jubilation in his
side’s 2-0 thrashing of Brikama. His action provoked furious reactions
from the Sateba Boys’ backroom staff.
Sanyang later offered an apology over the bizarre incident in post-match media talks but that didn’t deter the SOC from probing the
issues triggered following the referee highlight of the altercation in
his match dossier.
Consequently Sainey incurred the organisers wrath who suspended him
from barking instruction from the technical bench and imposed a D1000
fine on The Beach Boys.
The punishment means Bakau will be without their coach in their today
semi-final fixture against defending champions Serrekunda West.
Reacting to the ruling, Sanyang said following his charges
quarter-final victory: ‘I was banned and I have accepted it in good
faith.”
On Bakau’s chances, Sainey was bullish, “I told you (before) the team
is gradually improving day in day out, which means we are going to win
the trophy.”
