A social media commentator and popular audio maker, Omar Sanneh, alias ‘Baitulai’, is said to have been arrested in Casamance on Friday, June 9, in the border village of Barreng-nhesseh.

Sources say ‘Baitulai’ was arrested early in the morning of last Friday by Senegalese forces.

Sources further allege that armed personnel conducted an operation to take into custody Omar Sanneh (alias Baitulai), an outspoken critic of the current administrations of the Gambia and Senegal.

When contacted to shed light on the veracity of the alleged arrest, Deputy PRO of the Gambia Police Force, Muhammad Y Darboe, said the Police could not comment on it.

Foroyaa also contacted the Army PRO for comment, but to no avail.

However, two senior police officers of the Gambia Police Force told Foroyaa that the said commentator was arrested by Senegalese forces, and that GPF have not taken him into custody.

Omar, whose voice notes have been circulating on social media, has relocated to Casamance since the change of regime in the Gambia in 2017.
