Foni Jarrol District Tribunal badged messenger, Mr. Salifu Ceesay, on Wednesday 30th July 2025, continued and concluded his testimony narration before the Brikama Magistrate’s Court regarding the ongoing land dispute between Jarrol and Nioro Jarrol villages. The hearing, which resumed under Magistrate Fofana, is part of a broader case involving multiple accused persons charged with disobedience to a district tribunal order.
At the opening of the session, Police Prosecutor Inspector Fadera reminded the witness, who is the Prosecution’s first witness (PW1), of where he had stopped during his earlier testimony before Magistrate Isatou Darboe, who has since left the Brikama Magistrate Court. Magistrate Fofana, who now presides over the matter, raised concerns about the existence of two separate charge sheets. Prosecutor Inspector Fadera clarified that the first charge sheet involves three accused persons—Alhagie Jobe, Abdoulie Jobe, and Balla Jobe—while the second pertains to seven others accused of defying an injunction issued by the Foni Jarrol District Tribunal Court.
Prosecutor Fadera then asked the witness to explain what transpired when he attempted to deliver the injunction document to the residents of Nioro Jarrol. Mr. Salifu Ceesay stated, “When I was asked by the chief Mr. Sulayman Sanyang to take the injunction paper to Nioro Jarrol, I took the injunction paper to Nioro Jarrol and that when I arrived at them they refused to receive it from me and I throws it the ground and left with my motor bike.”
When asked what happened afterward, Mr. Ceesay explained, “Mr. Alagie Jobe, Balla Jobe and Abdoulie Jobe took a stick and chased me.” He continued by saying, “I ride my motor bike away from them and went to the Chief’s compound and informed him about what happened.”
According to Mr. Ceesay, after he reported the incident to Chief Sanyang, the chief escalated the matter to the Kalagie Police Station. He told the court, “When the chief heard of what happened between me and the people of Nioro Jarrol, Chief Sanyang reported the matter to Kalagie Police Station. And that police officers from Kalagie Police Station went to the community members of Nioro Jarrol and they were fighting with the Police.”
He further narrated, “They were later arrested and brought to Kalagie Police Station and at Kalagie Police Station they were fighting with the Police that the Kalagie Police Station have to called PIU officers from Bondali Police Station for reinforcement.”
Inspector Fadera asked what happened next at the police station, and the witness replied, “I went to Kalagie Police Station and at the Police Station the Police took his statement.”
The prosecutor also inquired whether he was aware of the injunction paper from the magistrate court and what happened afterward. Mr. Ceesay responded, “I am aware of the injunction paper from this magistrate court and that they the Nioro Jarrol do go there all of them.”
In detailing the law enforcement response, he added, “Police officers from Kalagie Station went there and arrested them. They were brought to Kalagie Police Station, from Kalagie Station to Bondali Police Station and later transferred to Sibanor Police Station to Brikama Magistrate Court.”
Following the testimony, Magistrate Fofana adjourned the case to 6th August 2025 for cross-examination of PW1, Mr. Salifu Ceesay.
