The Gambia U-17 male team will resume training today in the morning as they continue their technical preparations ahead of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 scheduled from 30th March to 19th April 2025.
The Baby Scorpions had a break on Wednesday following Monday and Tuesday sessions held at the home of Gambian football, the National Technical Training Centre (NTTC) in Old Yundum.
According to GFF Media, Tuesday’s session was attended by Senior Scorpions Coach Johnathan McKinstry who addressed the players and expressed satisfaction with the training program.
“He encouraged the young players to continue to be disciplined and be very attentive to instructions from their coaches,” GFF media added.
AFCON-bound after over a decade absence, the Baby Scorpions are pitted in Group C alongside reigning champions Senegal, Somalia and Tunisia.
Senegal has already stepped up their preparations to defend their title as they finish undefeated at the recent successful friendly tournament in Casablanca, Morocco.
The squad has resumed intensive training sessions back in Dakar and scheduled a series of test matches to sharpen their form ahead of the tournament.
In The Gambia though, Head Coach Yahya Manneh last week completed the screening phase with the players identified joining players selected from the WAFU Zone A qualifiers, bringing the total to 30.
“They will continue on the local preparations, focusing more on both the tactical and technical aspect with a view to forming a collective and formidable squad,” GFF Media stated on Monday.
