By Sulayman Bah Gambia Athletics Association President Dodou Capi Joof has lavished praises on emerging Gambian long distance runner Lamin Sanneh. Sanneh beat the odds despite fasting and finishing fourth behind just three other participants in the famous Leeds Half Marathon over the weekend. His performance inspite of his position came in for rave reviews after it emerged he broke Gambia’s record in the 10km with 33.11 timing. Joining in the flurry of personalities extolling Sanneh’s exploits, GAA Prexy told Foroyaa Sport: “He (Lamin) and Mariama T. Jallow have always been doing very well and have also been representing the country. He performed very well in the past events. What matters is not the position but the timing. He said, “In a nutshell, he did very well. He’s an ambassador to the country and I again congratulate him for the performance.” Lamin’s participation in the UK marathon was marred by a change in departure schedule – having to wait for female Gambian counterpart Mariama T. Jallow who was out in an international competition.]]>
