Another Surge in COVID-19 Cases

The Gambia has registered four hundred and fifty cases of the deadly coronavirus during the past week bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country, to eleven thousand five hundred and seventy-two, with the positive test rate for the newly confirmed cases put at 20.5%.

No New COVID-19 related death was registered and the total number of COVID-19 related death still remains at three hundred and forty-three. 

Nine patients are said to be on oxygen therapy.

Three hundred and six COVID-19 patients are said to have been discharged from treatment centres after ten days from the day they tested positive, bringing the total cumulative number of recoveries to ten thousand one hundred and fifty-six.

As of the 11th day of January 2022 the following number of people were vaccinated against the deadly virus: Johnson and Johnson vaccine: Only 1 dose: 250,279 people; Sinopharm vaccine: Dose 1: 4,505 people, and dose 2: 3,323 people; AstraZeneca vaccine: Dose 1: 40, 680 people; and Dose 2: 29,560 people.
