By Sulayman Bah Association of National Olympic Committee of Zone II (ANOCA ZONE II) is set to revive its sports activities by the end of December, according to Gambia National Olympic Committee’s supremo. Dibba, who doubles as Vice President of the august association, said the agreement was reached during a meeting of the Executive Bureau of ANOCA Zone II held on June, 24th 2015 in Dakar, Senegal. “ANOCA Zone II is now poised to resume activities which have been at a standstill as a result of the Ebola crisis. This will begin with the organization of an international taekwondo tournament in Bamako in December” Dibba discloses to Olympic House media information assistant Namory Trawally. He added that the tournament will be organized as part of activities to mark the inauguration of the Zone II headquarters, following a headquarters agreement signed with Malian authorities. GNOC Boss noted that the prime objective of the Executive Committee is to revive all competitions that had existed in the past such as the Amilcar Cabral Football Cup, the Tennis, Basketball, Wrestling and Boxing competitions. It should be noted that apart from this headquarters, the agreement signed with Mali also makes provision for funds to run the office and all the staff will be entitled to all diplomatic privileges. ANOCA zone II comprises Senegal, Mali, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Mauritania Cape Verde and Liberia. ]]>
