Haruna Tine, the alleged murderer of Fatou Kagbo has appeared before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the Banjul High Court yesterday Monday, 11th March 2024, with the State yet to file a bill of indictment.
Counsel Fatou Drammeh for the State informed the court that they have received the accused person’s file from Inspector General of Police and a legal opinion is being prepared regarding the case.
Counsel Drammeh also informed the court that the State will file a bill of indictment today, 12 March 2024, before Justice Jaiteh.
According to his charge sheet, the accused person has been charged with murder contrary to Section 187 of the CPC.

If readers can recall, Haruna Tine, who has been charged with pre-meditated murder for allegedly stabbing Fatoumatta Kargbo in the chest multiple times resulting in her death, was first arraigned on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the Kanifing Magistrates court, when Lamin Jammeh, a police officer who appeared for the IGP, applied for the court to transfer the matter to the high court, because the lower court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case. He also sought for the accused to be remanded at Mile II.
During the ruling, Principal Magistrate Sallah of Kanifing Magistrate Court said the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case and thus transferred the matter to the high court.
The matter has now been adjourned to the 19th of March 2024 at 11:30 am for further mentioning.
