Abdoulie G. Dibba Ten agricultural officers who served as project coordinators and regional directors under the ministry of Agriculture are still being held in detention at the police headquarters in Banjul. The ten detainees have been held since Monday, 7th July 2014. They were part of the twelve officials engaged in agricultural projects whose dismissal was reported by the state owned radio. Two of the twelve officials who are not detained are Dr Kujejatou Manneh and Aminata Jallow who were released on bail on the same Monday. Both of them work for FAO. The following are the Agric officials who are being detained: Foday Jadama Regional Director, Kutubo Sanyang, Project Coordinator Cowpea, Mr Kebba Drammeh, Senior Agricultural Officer at the Wellingara Model Centre, Musa Dampha , Commications Education Extention Services, Fafanding Fatajo, the Project Coordinator of FASDEP, Lamin Fatajo, the Project Coordinator of Rural Finance, Dr Saikou E. Sanyang, the Regional Director of Agriculture NBR, Dr Sanyang, the Regional Director of Agriculture CRR, Mr Cherno Mballow of Agric Business and Mr Mbemba Dahaba. All the twelve top officials had earlier been ‘invited’ by the police but were granted police bail on 20th June 2014. They were reporting on bail regularly until Monday, 10 July when ten of them were detained and have since then not been released by the authorities. ]]>
