Slapped with an 8-game ban for spate of infringements by Germany’s fifth tier league committee, Gambia’s Omar Jatta has finally resume playing football after securing a new club.
The 27-year-old striker, one time the most sought-after goal-poacher in the lower echelons of German football, fell on the wrong end of the Württemberg Football Association, a committee setup to oversee fifth division football in Berlin.
Jatta came under serious scrutiny from the football governing body for tendency to launch assaults on opposing players while in the pitch.
So tough was the league body’s stance on Omar that they slapped an 8-game suspension on the Gambian taking into consideration previous unpunished infringements which the player escaped with referee let offs.
The timing of the ban wasn’t helpful as it came during times the former Stuttgart Kickers man was on the verge of being offered revised terms to extend his stay for another season with former club FC 08 Villingen.
The situation later forced FC 08 Villingen to reconsider going ahead tying down Jatta to an extended contract –a thing that rendered the Brikama-born club-less for nearly four months.
However the former Gambian U-20 man has moved on putting the ugly incident behind him after putting pen-to-paper with SC Pfullendorf. But the deal wasn’t brokered without clearance from the very association that banned him.
Already Jatta is beginning to rediscover the form that once made him the deadliest goal poacher years back scoring important goals for SC Pfullendorf.
