Ousman Sillah Mr. Abdou Karim Savage, the former Chief Justice of The Gambia, has been laid to rest on Thursday, 27 August, 2015 after a briefCJ A.K. Savege illness. Former Chief Justice Savage was the first Gambian to serve in this highest judicial office of the land. He was appointed in March 2006 and removed from office by the president on 8 June 2009. Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Savage was a school teacher, who taught English at Crab Island Secondary and Literature at Nusrat High School. He started as a state counsel and rose through the ranks to the position of Registrar of Companies before joining the bench as a high court judge. He was later elevated to the position of appeal and supreme judge before becoming chief justice.]]>
