President revokes ‘directive’ on head tie

In a GRTS television news broadcast on Wednesday 13 January 2016, it
was announced that the directive from the office of the president that
women should put on “head dress (not hijab) in all working placesYaya Jammeh
during working hours is lifted.” The statement emphasised that the
directive has nothing to do with religion.
It added that as the president is all the time pursuing the well being
of the women the decision that makes them unhappy has been lifted.
