Sports Journalists’ Association of the Gambia this week paid tribute
to Papa Gassama who was last weekend voted Africa’s best referee of
the year.
The organisation that accorded Gassama as its Sports Personality of
the year 2015, said in a statement issued yesterday: ‘The SJAG under the leadership of Musa Sise is quite proud to join Gambians in
celebrating yet another successful outing at the international stage.
You have not only served as a good ambassador for the country but you
have put the name of the country in the footballing map of the world.
We as a body are immensely proud to have named you our Sports
Personality of the year 2015 following your grand exploits at the FIFA
2014 world cup in Brazil and continuously vindicated our judgment as
the Gambia’s finest and Africa’s best.
Your most recent achievement has cemented your strides in the annals of history.
The entire sports journalism fraternity wishes you all the best and we
further encourage you to keep up the good momentum as you continue to
make every Gambian proud.
