A former Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Ousman Jammeh, is under detention at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) in Banjul for 21 days now without access to family members, a family source disclosed to Foroyaa.
He was removed from his position and immediately arrested. Family sources say up to date their loved one has not returned home and they cannot have access to him.
This reporter re-visited the residence of Mr. Jammeh in Kanifing South, on 3 November, 2015, to get an update from the family members, and it was observed that the PIU personnel who was stationed there is no longer there.
The reporter was told by a close source who appeared worried that Mr. Jammeh is still not released and the reason (s) behind his arrest and detention are not known to them.
Foroyaa had earlier reported that the former Agric Minister was picked up by men in civilian clothes on Thursday, 15 October, 2015 following his removal from President Jammeh’s Cabinet .
It would be recalled that on a previous visit by this reporter to the former deputy Minister’s home, a personnel of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) found there indicated that Mr.Jammeh’s immediate family would not entertain guests.
It was also gathered at that time that Mr.Jammeh’s whereabouts was not known and people were seen coming in and out of the compound in a sombre mood. One lady was even seen sobbing.
