By Mustapha Jallow Mr Seedy Jaiteh, a former Human Resource Director of Gamcel, is still held in detention without trial at Mile IIthe state central prison in Mile II for 424 days, according to a family source. The former Gamcel staff is being held incommunicado and has not been accessed by his family since his detention at the prison.According to family source, they were expecting that their loved one would be among those detainees who were recently released from the various detention centres. “We were among those families who went to Mile Two prisons thinking that our loved one would be released after it was announced that the president has released detainees and pardoned convicted prisoners. Since Seedy has not been convicted by any court, we were very hopeful that he was going to regain his freedom,” revealed the family source. The source said they are calling on the president to intervene to help in securing the release of Mr. Jaiteh from incommunicado detention at the prison. Mr Jaiteh was picked up on 27 August 2014 by men in plain clothes at his residence in Manjai Kunda around mid-night and taken away in a waiting vehicle with tinted glasses and without a registered number plate. However, after several unsuccessful attempts in search of him at the NIA, NDEA and police detention centres, Mr. Jaiteh was eventually traced by the family at the NIA in Banjul. The source revealed that the family was initially allowed to be taking food to him but this was stopped on 2 September 2014. The family later got information that their loved one was held at Mile II prison but are denied access to him since then.]]>
