Mamour M. Mbenga Mrs. Sirra Jallow Badjie, the wife of Mr. Ensa Badjie, the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), welcomed the pardoning of her husband by the president exercising the prerogative of mercy as provided in the Constitution of the republic of The Gambia. Former IGP Badjie was among the 227 ex. convicts who were pardoned by president Yahya Jammeh to mark the 21st anniversary of the 22 July coup d’etat which brought him to power. He was serving life imprisonment among other jail terms. Visiting her family home in Serekunda London Corner over the weekend following the release of her husband, Mrs. Badjie said she is thanking Allah for making this memorable and joyous day possible. She said they are also thanking the president for pardoning their husband, father, uncle and brother to enable him to reunite with them. “We are very happy to see our love one released from prison and to rejoin his family again. I thank the president’s mother who has been making efforts and supporting the released of our loved ones from prison. Thanks also to President Jammeh for the ‘big surprise’ he has given us. My heart is full of joy,” said Mrs. Badjie. ]]>
