Ya Amie Cham, the mother of a young man, who was amputated on his limbs, is seeking support from the government, individuals, businesses the private sector and philanthropists to facilitate his son’s overseas treatment.

Muhammed Secka, the son, was electrocuted while painting. His both hands and legs were amputated.

Ya Amie Cham, a single mother, said she has been taking care of Muhammed alone after losing her husband during his early years.

The mother explained that Muhammed is a professional painter and he had electric shock last year while working.

“Due to the severity of the electric shock, both his arms and legs were amputated. He had the accident last year and we spent the whole of last year’s summer at the hospital, before being advised to go to Senegal where he was eventually amputated. I only have him and his brother who embarked on the ‘back-way’ journey seven years ago. We have not heard from him since. I do not know whether he is alive or dead,’’ Ya Amie said.

She explained that Muhammed’s former boss has since abandoned them as he stopped visiting them to enquire about his condition.

“My son is now at home and cannot do anything for himself. The only thing I need now is support from all and sundry because I am a woman and I am not financially strong. I used to work at ‘Saro’. I currently have no job to earn a living, and looking at my age, I am getting older and weaker,’’ Ya Amie said.
