Boy Allegedly Kills Friend in Manjai

One Famara Kanteh is facing a single count of murder before the high court for allegedly killing his friend, one Bahoreh Ceesay in Manjai for refusing to borrow him charcoal pot.

The deceased at the time of death was 23 according to his aunt Aja Ceesay, who testified on Tuesday, 12th January 2021 before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh.

According to prosecution witness three in this case, the accused person (Famara Kanteh) came to the deceased (Bahoreh Ceesay) on 9th January 2021 asking him to lend him his charcoal pot but the deceased told him to wait for him since he was also using it. Witness Aja Ceesay, who is an aunt to the deceased said this was when Famara Kanteh began raining insults on the deceased who was all along not responding to him.

The resident of Manjai said she intervened and told the accused person to stop the insults, but he wouldn’t listen to her. At some point, the witness said the deceased reacted and fought with the accused person.

“After the fight, the accused person was saying he was going to kill the deceased,” the witness said.

She testified that the accused person did not give up and came back to their compound and continued with the insults. She said all the fights the deceased used to wrestle the accused person to the ground since he was tough and strong.

On how the deceased was killed, she said the accused person found her with the deceased and attempted to knock the deceased, but the deceased held him and wrestled him to the ground.

“The accused person was having a long knife which he used to slice both legs of the deceased which eventually resulted to too much blood oozing from the deceased. You can see the flesh of the deceased and he died before they got a taxi to transport him,” the tearful witness said.

She said the accused person began crying after seeing the deceased in that condition.

The case was adjourned to the 18th January 2021 at 12 noon for PW4 to testify.
