Gambian Health Authorities have yesterday informed the media that one new COVID-19 related death was registered, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths recorded, to one hundred and twenty-four.
The deceased is said to be a 76-year-old man.
Until he tested positive for COVID-19 and was transferred to the Sanatorium, the deceased was said to have been admitted at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul. No new COVID-19 case was recorded.
This is the 233rd National Situation Report since the confirmation of the first case of the novel coronavirus disease in The Gambia on the 16th of March 2020. The Gambia currently has twenty-one people under quarantine with five active cases.
According to Modou Njai the Director of Health Promotion and Education at the Ministry of Health, out of forty-one new laboratory test results received from the National Public Health Lab., no new test returned undetermined and no new sample tested positive.
“Two people were newly taken into quarantine and no one was discharged,” he said.
Director Njai said four new high-risk contacts of a recently confirmed COVID-19 case have been identified and follow-up has begun on them, in earnest. He said no new COVID-19 patient was discharged.
