Omar Solly, who was admitted at Edward Francis Small Teaching hospital in Banjul after he sustained gunshot injury on his arm, was on 19th May 2020 discharged by health authorities.
Solly was shot by a friend on Friday-night, on 24th April 2020 in Lamin.
Samba Solly confirmed his brother was discharged by health authorities and asked to return next month for medical checkup.
“We are at home now. His condition is improving-he is recovering bit-by-bit,’’ he said.
It could be recalled that the shooting occurred on Friday-night, in Lamin on 24th April 2020. The incident happened, when Omar Solly was sitting and chatting with his friends opposite Jah-oil station (highway) in Lamin, and a soldier stood up and pulled out his pistol and showed it to his friends.
“The soldier said ‘this is my life’.” When he did that action, one of his friends – Ebrima Badjie, who is 18, grabbed the pistol from LCpl Sarr’s hand and pointed it at another friend, Senghor. The friends ran way, but Badjie shot at them. So, when he (Badjie) opened fire, that is when the bullet hit Omar Solly,’’ army PRO tells this paper.
Solly, who sustained injury on his arm after the bullet hit him, spent 26 days at the emergency care unit of the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, where he was receiving treatment before surgery was performed on him.
