Is Tuberculosis Making A Comeback?

QUESTION OF THE DAY

For some time Foroyaa has not been witnessing to people being diagnosed to have tuberculosis. Of recent even very young people have been diagnosed to be living with the illness. It is important for the health educationists to intensify their sensitisation programmes on the illness.

People now live in congested environments and air borne diseases can spread very rapidly in homes and communities. The rising toll of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes has diverted focus from malaria and tuberculosis which are silent killers and are becoming increasingly difficult to diagnose because of change in symptoms and resilience of the bodies of those infected. The rising number of inexplicable deaths in our communities should be cause for worry and research.
