Hon. Madi Ceesay, the National Assembly Member for Serrekunda West Constituency said he was informed that there is rice from the People’s Republic of China donated to the Government of the Gambia and the rice is to be distributed to the people of the Gambia by the National Assembly Members in their various constituencies.

“I was not in town but I informed some people who went for the rice and during the distribution, I went round to see the manner it was done,” he said. He added that the manner in which the rice was distributed to the people of his constituency was fair enough.

Mr. Tuffie Konateh said he was the chairperson of the committee that went to collect the rice and was part of the people who distributed it to the various Wards in the constituency. “We were given one thousand, six hundred and fifty (1650) bags of rice and this was divided among five (5) wards with each ward given three hundred and thirty (330) bags,” he said.

Mr. Kanoteh said the bags were distributed among the Alkalo’s in the wards to facilitate the distribution.

Mr. Lamin Keita a resident of Manjai Kunda, said they were given 330 bags, which they distributed within their ward; that each of the wards was given fifty-four 54 bags for distribution within the ward.
