President Jammeh Reshuffles Cabinet

 The President of the Gambia, Yahya Jammeh, on August 25th reshuffled his cabinet.

A press release from state House in Banjul broadcast over state owned Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS)on August 25, indicates that the President acting under the powers given to him by the Gambia Constitution has appointed Mr. Ousman Badjie, a former minister of the Interior, as the new minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, replacing Mr. Bala Garba Jahumpa who is moved to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gambians abroad as the new Minister. Dr. Abubakar Senghore who was serving as the Foreign Affairs minister has been reappointed as the new minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology. In a surprise twist of events, the president has also appointed Mr. Basiru Mahoney as the new removed the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mrs Fatima Singhateh, replacing her with the former Solicitor General, Basiru Mahoney. The release did not give any explanation for the cabinet reshuffle.  ]]>
