6 GGC Officials Dragged to Court, Granted Bail

By Mamadou Dem A lower court in Banjul presided over by Magistrate Samsideen Conteh yesterday, 15th January 2015 granted bail to six staff of the Gambia Groundnut Corporation (GGC) charged with a single count  of ‘stealing’ contrary to the laws of The Gambia.Each of the accused persons was granted bail in the sum of D10, 000 and ordered to produce a Gambian surety to swear to an affidavit of means. The particulars of offence states that “Ousainou Nyang, Sulayman Njie, Sanneh Manneh, Momodou Gassama, Sedia Sanyang and Falleh Tamba on or about the 2nd day of December, 2014 at the Gambia Groundnut Corporation in the city of Banjul, stole ten litres of groundnut oil, five nylon bags of groundnut and one bag of groundnut seeds from Gambia Groundnut Corporation valued at eight thousand four hundred and thirty nine dalasi eighty three butut (8, 439.83) being the properties of the said company, thereby committed an offence.” Police Prosecutor, Hawa Jobe appeared for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) while the accused persons are yet to secure a legal representation.
