By Sulayman Bah After conquering the Senegalese national championship, Gambian athletes over the weekend continued from where they left off picking ten medals in Mbour’s sub regional competition. The event, which wrapped up Saturday, saw a good number of the 15-strong Gambian Team grab 10 medals –five gold, two silver and three bronze. Lamin Keita and Demba Marong again went out for the kill in the 1,500m juniors and seniors clutching top spot in the events.Ebrima Camara, who wowed the strong spectator turn out in the nationals last week, showed no sign of slowing down by finishing off first on 10:68 timing in the juniors. Abdoulie Asim added to the medal galore, clinching silver in the 100m Senior Boys’ event. An exhausted Tijan Keita, who landed in Gambia yesterday, was crowned champion of the Zone 2 400m juniors. Gina Bass also made sure that she was not left out by wrapping up the women 100m senior category with a 11:94 timing, while Mariama Manjang managed bronze after coming third in 13:14 seconds.
